Great Trip – Incredible Ministry
I just returned from Haiti Monday night. I was blown away by all the incredible ministry taking place through our BGM missionaries and our Haitian partners on the ground. God is doing a great work!
This little guy is six years old. His mother has nine children, all boys. Her husband died a few months ago. This little boy has cerebral palsy and he also became severely malnourished. He was recently admitted to our Inpatient Malnutrition Center from another Malnutrition Center that does not have the capacity to treat special needs children. Now, he’s getting all the nutrition, care, and love that his little body needs.
On our trip this past weekend, Rick Adams took a special interest in this beautiful child. Rachel Charpie (pictured) and Katie Ethridge, our two missionaries, are doing an incredible job at the Inpatient Malnutrition Center.
Remote Village
This past Saturday we hiked from Thoman to the village of Maingrette. Our purpose was to check on the water line coming from a spring at the top of the mountain all the way down to Thoman. The water makes it to Thoman sporadically and therefore the people have to walk all the way down the mountain to a stream and then walk back up the mountain with 45 pounds of water in a bucket on their head. It’s usually the women and children who carry the water. This summer, we have a team that will camp on the mountain in Maingrette and fix the water line, build water stations for the people living on the mountain, and make water available for the people in Thoman.
Incredible view from Maingrette. Michael Volk, a civil engineer from Madision, MS is leading the water project this summer. Here, Michael gathers information on a broken water station as local villagers gather water flowing from a cistern.

Inside the church in Maingrette. The team this summer will be able to stay here at night while working on the mountain.
The local school in Maingrette. It’s made of mud, sticks, and
a tin roof.
Inside the local school. We are told that six classes meet in
this tiny space.

love to build a new school
Church in Thoman
I had the privilege of preaching Sunday morning at the church in Thoman where Pastor Mathurin serves as the Pastor.
The church was packed on Sunday morning as we had much singing, praying, preaching, and praising of God.
These four came forward to publicly embrace Jesus as Lord and Savior. In Luke 15, Jesus said, “There is rejoicing in the presence of the angels of God over one sinner who repents.”
Extreme Poverty
Some people in Haiti live in unimaginable poverty. They live with little food, no electricity, no running water, and no money. Yet they struggle on. They fight for their families. They try to somehow provide for their children. They are loved by God and sometimes they just need a hand-up and a little encouragement.
A sweet lady and her children live in this horrible situation in Thoman, Haiti. She rents this structure for $30 per year. There are no beds and no furniture of any sort. Our missionary in Thoman, Laura Rader (pictured in green shirt), has befriended this dear lady and her children.
In this photo I have just told the family they are getting a brand new house thanks to the generosity of a lady in Pearl, MS. In addition, they’ll be getting a little rice and beans over the next few months to help feed their family. Their lives are about to change dramatically because one of God’s people saw their plight and said, “That’s not ok. We can do something about this.” And she did!
Great Work in Galette Chambon
We stopped in Galette Chambon Monday morning. Tony and Mickie West continue to do an incredible job ministering in that community. Also, we were able to visit with Nash and Emily Barber at the orphanage and they are also doing great!
This is part of the team from Laurens, SC that is working in Galette Chambon this week. In addition to building this house, they have two dentists who are pulling teeth. They are also conducting a motherhood seminar for expectant moms and building desks and chalkboards for the local schools, among many other things.
News from the Miss. Delta
While our work continues in Haiti, big things are happening with our work in the Miss. Delta.
We held the Grand Opening for our new Hope Center in Jonestown, MS on January 19, 2018.
The Great Room of the Hope Center was set up for the
Grand Opening.
A standing-room-only crowd of friends and supporters came to
help us celebrate.
We presented Randy Cress, our volunteer General Contractor, with a water color painting of the new Hope Center.
Dental Clinic
We are pleased to announce that Dr. Ron Caloss is serving as the Volunteer Medical Director of our Dental Clinic in Jonestown. Dr. Caloss is board certified in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery. He received his medical degree from the University of Texas and currently teaches and performs surgery at The University of Mississippi Medical Center.

Finally . . .

As you can see, God is using But God Ministries in marvelous ways. Also, as you are aware, it takes a great deal of resources to do what God has called us to do. Would you please consider financially supporting BGM and our work in Haiti? Your gift will go a long way in helping us share the love of Christ in very tangible ways in that poverty-stricken nation.

You can give online HERE or send a check to: But God Ministries, 400 Fontaine Place, Suite 103, Ridgeland, MS, 39157.

In addition, I ask for your prayers for wisdom and energy for our Haitian staff, our American staff in Haiti, our staff in the States, and our Board of Directors.
