I really enjoy this camera. I have actually had it for about 7 months now and it has served me well. It is small enough to take anywhere and still give you a great 1080i image.
I am Apple based so it plugs in to my computer USB and the video files import from the SD-Card straight into iMovie. At that point I can choose if I want full 1080i or 940 or 720. From there I can edit straight in iMovie or pull it into FinalCut or any other editing software that will take HD footage.
The onboard (Dolby 5.1) microphone is pretty good but can be effected by the slightest amount of wind. It does have an audio in and I have a small shotgun mic with mini plug that I use. You get a little electronic noise from the camera so when I do interviews I record audio else where.
There is no headphone jack so you have to use the onboard speakers to listen when in the field and they are of course not very good.
The O.S.I. is really good and has come in handy in my travels. It records very well in low light situations, and the zoom is variable.
Those are the basics. I think one or two or more of these cameras would be great for street, travel or just about anything else. If you are trying to increase your numbers and your quality, this is a great way to start.
