So a few weeks ago I got the chance to go to Turkey for a week. I was taking photos of the area for work and just generally tripping around. While I was there I thought that I would try and catch some of the atmosphere around the area, so I have created several recordings of just general activity.
All together I recorded three different sessions and this one is the second of the three and probably my favorite. What caught me by surprise in this one is the fact that life goes on. Each day in Turkey a prayer is said 5 times from the towers that surround the Mosques. These are a call to prayer for all Muslims. It is a time when everyone should drop what they are doing, go to the Mosques, face east and pray to Alah. That does not happen! What you will notice in this recording is that even the children continue their activities. No one stops playing, or working, or driving, life just continues on.
I know the quick analysis on this is that we do the same thing. That on Sunday or Wednesday when it is time for church, we as Americans continue doing what we do. We don't stop, and we don't go to the church, and we don't pray. That is the easy one. What it really made me think of was the people, places and situations we run across everyday and God is calling to us, "See that? Pray about it, pray about them, pray for them." And we do nothing, we don't hear the call to prayer, we don't run to go, and we don't pray.
